Two Paperdolls - Letterpress and design house

FAQ/Templates

Do you have minimum quantities?

We don’t have minimum quantities (we can run from 1 piece to a nearly infinite quantity) but we do have a project minimum of $500.00.

How fast can I get my goods?

We generally work under a 10-14 business day turnaround time from the receipt of press ready digital files. This may vary depending on the complexity of your project.

What kind of art works best with letterpress?

Vector artwork works best set in solid colors. Check out the work on our site for some inspiration.

What kind of files do you need?

Vector art created with Adobe Illustrator or a PDF. Please download our easy to use templates!

I really like small type. What is the smallest font size you can print?

We like to keep all type 6 point or above, but we can go a little smaller as long as the line weight is .25 or greater, including your serifs.

Can you print a flood of color?

We can print large areas of color, but expect to see a mottled (or salty) appearance to the coverage. If you would like to knock out white type, please send us your working artwork for a consultation prior to getting client sign-off.

What kind of paper works best?

We prefer to print on paper that has a softer surface for the best letterpress impression, and we can only print on uncoated stocks. We especially like cotton stocks for the beautiful sculptural effect we can achieve.

What is the largest and smallest size you can run?

We can print on a sheet as large as 13″ x 22″ and as small as 1″x1″.

Can I have print on both sides?

Yes, but be aware that depending on the thickness of the paper, you could very well see the impression of the artwork on the back side of the sheet. We can advise you as the best thickness of paper for your artwork.

Do you have templates for your standard sizes?

We do! You can download them by clicking the links below:

What papers do you use?

All of our invitations are printed on deluxe Crane’s Lettra 100% Cotton Paper. This cotton paper is rigid by nature yet soft to the touch, which is perfect for letterpress printing. Cotton fibers are naturally pliable, but are also long and sturdy. Even though it is machine-made commercial paper, Lettra’s distinct “letterpress finish” results in alluring and interesting printed products.

Lettra paper is uncalendered, which is a technique in the papermaking process where paper is not smoothed in the calender stacks. This process leaves the cotton fibers relatively uncondensed, giving the paper an extra bulky and plush feel.

We print our business cards and invitations in two different weights of Lettra. The lightest is 110lb, thicker than your average business card, and great for single-sided printing. The heaviest is 220lb and is a very substantial sheet. We recommend this stock for any double sided printing.

Our Inks

We stock 85 different PMS colors in our shop. If the design you’ve chosen isn’t featured in the color of your choice, feel free to choose from the list on your order form. The inks shown below are approximations of the actual colors and will vary based upon your screen’s display. If you would like to see a sample of the printed color we recommend ordering a sample before printing.
